What's on offer
From the reviews
If you’re looking for a class that’s going to push you to your fitness goals this is the place to be!! I have never felt more challenged and comfortable at the same time! Suzette is a master at her trade. It’s wildly challenging with the appropriate amount of support.
Suzette’s barre class keeps me balanced and steady with her emphasis on strengthening core and maintaining flexibility. It’s effective and fun.
Your first barre class at Shelter Island Barre Studio
New to barre? Almost everyone is their first time, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: barre blends small isometric holds and tiny pulses at a ballet barre with light weights and mat work — it's low-impact and joint-friendly, but it works muscles you didn't know you had, so a little shaking in your legs is the point, not a problem. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: fitted leggings and a top you can move in — nothing baggy, so the instructor can see your form. Grip socks: most barre studios require grip socks — bring a pair or check whether they sell them at the front desk; the grippy soles keep you steady during the pulses. What to bring: water and a small towel. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet your instructor. It clicks fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
