From the reviews

I have been taking classes at this Pure Barre location for over a year now, and I absolutely love it. The instructors are all so kind, helpful and motivational, and those I see often have taken the time to get to know my name and give shoutouts during class for extra motivation.

I have to admit, I didn’t know exactly what I was in for or how challenging the workout was going to be when I signed up for my first trial class having never ever done barre or regular workout classes before.

★★★★★ — Lael, Oct 2023

As a total newbie, I was a little nervous about getting started. But the staff and instructors are all so friendly and welcoming that it made it a totally comfortable and enjoyable experience from the beginning. They're personal and supportive without being suffocating or pressuring.

Love this studio! I’m a founding member and have been going to PB Flatiron since fall of 2021. Emily as manager is amazing. The studio itself has all the extra amenities like showers, toiletries, hair dryers, etc you don’t normally find at smaller boutique fitness studios.

Your first barre class at Pure Barre

New to barre? Almost everyone is their first time, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: barre blends small isometric holds and tiny pulses at a ballet barre with light weights and mat work — it's low-impact and joint-friendly, but it works muscles you didn't know you had, so a little shaking in your legs is the point, not a problem. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: fitted leggings and a top you can move in — nothing baggy, so the instructor can see your form. Grip socks: required here, and sold on-site if you don’t have a pair; the grippy soles keep you steady during the pulses. What to bring: water and a small towel. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet your instructor. It clicks fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.

Barre is low-impact, so it suits most bodies and fitness levels — but if you're pregnant or working around an injury, check with a doctor and let your instructor know so they can offer modifications.
