From the reviews
Love Pure Barre and this studio is great. I originally signed up for my membership here and with the unlimited you can go to various studios across the city. Very convenient and you get to do various classes and instructors. This location has three changing rooms and two restrooms with a huge lobby/waiting area.
I signed up for a free class and it was so amazing. I never got the hype about Pure Barre until I was in action. It was definitely a work out and I did hustle but wow, that felt amazing in a painful way. Emilie was an amazing instructor, and Katy was the nicest GM ever. I love the energy of this place.
I’ve been taking classes at Pure Barre Park Slope for about two years, and I love it. The front door staff is great, the teachers are really supportive. It makes me feel very powerful when I am done. There is a real sense of community with the other members.
12/10 recommend Pure Barre specifically the Union Square location as it's the best around and trust me, I've been to a lot of locations. The core instructor to help work out my core? Samantha Lucenti! She is extremely patient, a great motivator, very personable, and an all around awesome instructor!
Your first barre class at Pure Barre
New to barre? Almost everyone is their first time, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: barre blends small isometric holds and tiny pulses at a ballet barre with light weights and mat work — it's low-impact and joint-friendly, but it works muscles you didn't know you had, so a little shaking in your legs is the point, not a problem. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: fitted leggings and a top you can move in — nothing baggy, so the instructor can see your form. Grip socks: most barre studios require grip socks — bring a pair or check whether they sell them at the front desk; the grippy soles keep you steady during the pulses. What to bring: water and a small towel. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet your instructor. It clicks fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
