From the reviews
Absolutely love this place! The instructors and staff are very friendly. It's a great, low impact workout and you start seeing results in as little as 7 classes. I was a little worried about rejoining after the lockdown ended but was immediately put to ease after seeing the safety measures.
I have been going to Pure Barre at the West U location for a little over 9 months and LOVE it! I have a knee injury and have not only been able to get in shape again but my knee feels 1000% better due to the types of exercises in these classes. I have also seen great results in the rest of my body too.
I've been committed now to PB West University (and it's recently acquired sister studio in River Oaks ) for almost 5 years. The Pure Barre regimen allows for strength building, toning, cardio and stretch if you utilize the three formats offered.
Pure Barre is the first workout that has managed to keep me committed for more than 6 months. At first I was skeptical and started off with 1-2 classes per week, but soon I got hooked. It felt tough the first couple of months, especially postpartum. The pandemic lockdown also set me back a little.
Your first barre class at Pure Barre
New to barre? Almost everyone is their first time, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: barre blends small isometric holds and tiny pulses at a ballet barre with light weights and mat work — it's low-impact and joint-friendly, but it works muscles you didn't know you had, so a little shaking in your legs is the point, not a problem. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: fitted leggings and a top you can move in — nothing baggy, so the instructor can see your form. Grip socks: most barre studios require grip socks — bring a pair or check whether they sell them at the front desk; the grippy soles keep you steady during the pulses. What to bring: water and a small towel. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet your instructor. It clicks fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
