From the reviews
Pure Barre Evanston is literally my home away from home! From the moment I finished up my free Foundations class last April, I was totally hooked. Pure Barre is the only fitness routine I've ever been able to stick with consistently, and the loving and supportive community at PBE is 100% to credit for that!
If you are thinking of trying Pure Barre Evanston, GO FOR IT!!! It's always a bit intimidating to try something new, but the instructors are great, they explain everything as you go, extremely attentive and encouraging.
An update to my review: Pure Barre recently introduced a new class format called Define, and it's fantastic. It features strength-training using heavier weights than we use in the regular classes. I love it!
I absolutely love Pure Barre. I never really liked working out before, but going to Pure Barre I have finally found something fun that I can commit to. I love the upbeat music, and the instructors are amazing. They are so helpful and personal and remembered my name on my first day.
Your first barre class at Pure Barre
New to barre? Almost everyone is their first time, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: barre blends small isometric holds and tiny pulses at a ballet barre with light weights and mat work — it's low-impact and joint-friendly, but it works muscles you didn't know you had, so a little shaking in your legs is the point, not a problem. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: fitted leggings and a top you can move in — nothing baggy, so the instructor can see your form. Grip socks: most barre studios require grip socks — bring a pair or check whether they sell them at the front desk; the grippy soles keep you steady during the pulses. What to bring: water and a small towel. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet your instructor. It clicks fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
