This July marks my fifth year as a Pure Barre Auburn client. I originally researched and joined PBA for a cross training option with running while being challenged to try new exercises in a safe environment.
I love the Pure Barre Auburn team! This studio is very encouraging and welcoming to all members no matter the fitness level. All of the instructors are so knowledgable, explaining the technique of each move, correcting my form, all while encouraging me to grow.
Pure Barre Auburn is not only an amazing place for a low impact workout, it is a community that I could not imagine my life in Auburn without! My balance, flexibility, and strength have never been better and the instructors really make you feel welcome and encourage modifications so that you do not overwork and hurt…
I really enjoy these classes! I typically run and lift weights for my exercise but I use Barre as a supplemental form of exercise when I’m looking for a toning day. The instructors are fantastic and energetic! They correct my form when I’m doing something wrong, which I really appreciate.
Your first barre class at Pure Barre
New to barre? Almost everyone is their first time, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: barre blends small isometric holds and tiny pulses at a ballet barre with light weights and mat work — it's low-impact and joint-friendly, but it works muscles you didn't know you had, so a little shaking in your legs is the point, not a problem. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: fitted leggings and a top you can move in — nothing baggy, so the instructor can see your form. Grip socks: most barre studios require grip socks — bring a pair or check whether they sell them at the front desk; the grippy soles keep you steady during the pulses. What to bring: water and a small towel. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet your instructor. It clicks fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
