I come from CorePower Yoga and wanted to try something new so I started going to Barre3 San Diego a few weeks ago… I am addicted! The classes are challenging, fun & one of the best work outs I’ve ever done. The studio is always clean and has a really warm atmosphere.
This barre studio is one of the best things to have ever happened to me. I'm in my 30's and I've finally found a form of exercise that I *genuinely* enjoy AND *look forward to*! The variety of classes are great and offer an opportunity to try strength building, cardio, and yoga.
I was introduced to Barre3 when Salina, the owner of the North Park studio purchased the Studio Barre Mission Hills studio that I attended. Change is difficult and I was nervous at first but now that I have taken several classes, I love the new format.
I love this studio! They have a variety of classes to suit your style and all the teachers I've had are great, high energy, friendly and fun. The class(es) get my booty burning and my arms pumping. I've done 30 classes and feel great...I've gained strength and notice I've toned up a little bit.
Your first barre class at barre3
New to barre? Almost everyone is their first time, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: barre blends small isometric holds and tiny pulses at a ballet barre with light weights and mat work — it's low-impact and joint-friendly, but it works muscles you didn't know you had, so a little shaking in your legs is the point, not a problem. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: fitted leggings and a top you can move in — nothing baggy, so the instructor can see your form. Grip socks: most barre studios require grip socks — bring a pair or check whether they sell them at the front desk; the grippy soles keep you steady during the pulses. What to bring: water and a small towel. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet your instructor. It clicks fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
