From the reviews
I love going to the Barre Code downtown! It's a great location and the staff are amazing. You can take the same type of class all week and the workouts never repeat! They utilize different equipment which is great for muscles too. A perk for people who commute via car is that there is a nice parking lot.
I've been a Barre3 member for about 6 months, and I can easily say that joining this fitness community was the best decision I made for myself in 2025. After not actively exercising for about 5 years, I was immediately struck by how welcoming the entire Barre3 team was.
This is the first 'class gym' I've joined. I was extremely nervous when signing up but everyone at the Barre Code was extremely welcoming and positive - they encourage modifications to exercises based on your abilities and the classes are challenging but fun.
I’m still fairly new to the barre3 family but I’ve already grown to love it! I’ve consistently lifted for over 10 years with a few years of CrossFit, but lifting was my main focus, and I was ready for a switch up. I got stuck in a rut and wanted to challenge my body in a different way.
Your first barre class at barre3
New to barre? Almost everyone is their first time, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: barre blends small isometric holds and tiny pulses at a ballet barre with light weights and mat work — it's low-impact and joint-friendly, but it works muscles you didn't know you had, so a little shaking in your legs is the point, not a problem. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: fitted leggings and a top you can move in — nothing baggy, so the instructor can see your form. Grip socks: most barre studios require grip socks — bring a pair or check whether they sell them at the front desk; the grippy soles keep you steady during the pulses. What to bring: water and a small towel. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet your instructor. It clicks fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
