From the reviews
I’ve been following Al-buruj on Instagram for a while and was curious to try a class. After seeing her contributions to the Dearborn community/ schools I made up my mind and booked a class! It was a great experience. A very fun and light environment to balance out the intensity of the class, which is a perfect balance!
*UPDATE as of Jan 31, 2026* As a book-nerd, I was thrilled to get my hands on this book. It is in English. The translator made the book easy to understand the history of Prophet Muhammad (for a non-muslim like me). It also gave me a better understanding of Islam, just the tip of the iceberg.
As many know and have seen, Sarah is beyond an enthusiastic, caring, funny, and helpful instructor. Her energy makes the atmosphere so warm and welcoming; you simply LOVE to be there!
I absolutely love this Pilates studio! The trainer is incredibly caring and understanding, and she makes sure everyone feels comfortable and supported. What I appreciate the most is how attentive she is—she gives each of us the time and guidance we need to perform the exercises correctly and safely.
Your first barre class at Al-buruj Pilates and barre studio
New to barre? Almost everyone is their first time, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: barre blends small isometric holds and tiny pulses at a ballet barre with light weights and mat work — it's low-impact and joint-friendly, but it works muscles you didn't know you had, so a little shaking in your legs is the point, not a problem. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: fitted leggings and a top you can move in — nothing baggy, so the instructor can see your form. Grip socks: most barre studios require grip socks — bring a pair or check whether they sell them at the front desk; the grippy soles keep you steady during the pulses. What to bring: water and a small towel. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet your instructor. It clicks fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
