From the reviews
It’s about time I left a review for The Barre Code- I have been raving about this place to my friends and family ever since I discovered it through ClassPass in August! For the longest time I had told myself I would start some sort of fitness routine but I had never found anything that I enjoyed enough to stick with.
I have been coming to the Barre Code several times a week for well over a year so I feel pretty qualified to leave a review now. This is the strongest and healthiest I've been in my entire life. I feel in better shape than I did even when I did dance every day in high school.
Barre Code is my favorite fitness studio in Chicago! The owner, Bridget, and all the instructors and staff are super welcoming and kind. Some gyms feel like they’re just trying to sell you a membership, but I’ve never gotten that vibe here. Everyone’s genuine and positive.
I’ve been going to Barre Code for three years now and it’s truly changed my life. Before starting barre code I had never worked out regularly and honestly didn’t even know where to begin. From day one, the instructors made me feel comfortable, supported, and motivated.
Your first barre class at The Barre Code Chicago - River North
New to barre? Almost everyone is their first time, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: barre blends small isometric holds and tiny pulses at a ballet barre with light weights and mat work — it's low-impact and joint-friendly, but it works muscles you didn't know you had, so a little shaking in your legs is the point, not a problem. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: fitted leggings and a top you can move in — nothing baggy, so the instructor can see your form. Grip socks: required here, and sold on-site if you don’t have a pair; the grippy soles keep you steady during the pulses. What to bring: water and a small towel. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet your instructor. It clicks fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
