From the reviews
Whenever I’m traveling in Alexandria, I always try to squeeze in a class at The Barre ALX. The workouts are challenging in the best way, the vibe is upbeat, and the instructors are super welcoming. It’s got that boutique studio feel without the intimidation.
I went to Barre ALX for the first time today and absolutely LOVED it! Michaela, the owner, was so warm and welcoming from the moment I walked in, and the whole community has such a friendly, positive vibe. Avalon was a fantastic instructor and she was super encouraging, energetic, and led a great workout.
This is a great barre studio! I always feel overwhelmed coming to a barre class because I don't do them often and can get lost in what we're doing easily. That is NOT the case at Studio Barre! The instructors are all super friendly and helpful, and make sure to help you adjust if you're not nailing something.
Never thought group workout classes were for me, but Studio Barre has completely converted me. All workouts are way more fun than they have any right being and WOW will you feel it the next day! The ab work alone!
Your first barre class at The Barre ALX
New to barre? Almost everyone is their first time, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: barre blends small isometric holds and tiny pulses at a ballet barre with light weights and mat work — it's low-impact and joint-friendly, but it works muscles you didn't know you had, so a little shaking in your legs is the point, not a problem. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: fitted leggings and a top you can move in — nothing baggy, so the instructor can see your form. Grip socks: required here, and sold on-site if you don’t have a pair; the grippy soles keep you steady during the pulses. What to bring: water and a small towel. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet your instructor. It clicks fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
