From the reviews
As a parent, finding the right dance studio for my child was incredibly important to me, and The Ballet Barre has exceeded all of our expectations! From the first class, it was clear that this studio is a special place where students not only learn to dance but also grow in confidence and self-esteem.
Ballet Barre is a highly recommended dance school that has been here for decades now! My daughter started last year and inspite of a very difficult year with in person classes post covid, Ms. Heather and the amazing teachers managed seamlessly and put up a great year end recital!
I’ve been dancing at the ballet barre for the majority of my life, and it has been an absolute blast. It truly feels like my second home. All of the teachers there put so much work into helping us become better dancers, and choreographing amazing dances. The overall vibe at the studio is unmatched.
My daughter didn’t start dance class until March. Most girls do dance September-June so we started most of the way through the season, but heather and the teachers made sure my daughter caught up with the other girls.
Your first barre class at The Ballet Barre - Performing Arts School
New to barre? Almost everyone is their first time, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: barre blends small isometric holds and tiny pulses at a ballet barre with light weights and mat work — it's low-impact and joint-friendly, but it works muscles you didn't know you had, so a little shaking in your legs is the point, not a problem. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: fitted leggings and a top you can move in — nothing baggy, so the instructor can see your form. Grip socks: most barre studios require grip socks — bring a pair or check whether they sell them at the front desk; the grippy soles keep you steady during the pulses. What to bring: water and a small towel. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet your instructor. It clicks fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
