From the reviews
Pure Barre Whitefish Bay has been a great experience! The staff and instructors are very friendly and helpful. The classes are an amazing workout, and they go by fast! Every time I leave I feel great.
I’m about to go to my 72nd class so I thought it was time to say thank you by writing a review! After the pandemic left me with no gym and only walking as my preferred exercise method, I had lost a frightening amount of muscle mass and strength. Initially, Pure Barre seemed out of my league.
I had first dabbled in pure barre about 5 years ago while in school in Chicago. I purchased a class pass from Groupon to try to get back into it. The whole studio has been fantastic!
This workout is not a leisurely class. Come in expecting to WORK! I came in knowing it was going to be hard. It was harder than I thought, but you are able to work at your level. Can’t extend your leg as high as others, then don’t. You’ll still get the benefit.
Your first barre class at Pure Barre
New to barre? Almost everyone is their first time, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: barre blends small isometric holds and tiny pulses at a ballet barre with light weights and mat work — it's low-impact and joint-friendly, but it works muscles you didn't know you had, so a little shaking in your legs is the point, not a problem. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: fitted leggings and a top you can move in — nothing baggy, so the instructor can see your form. Grip socks: most barre studios require grip socks — bring a pair or check whether they sell them at the front desk; the grippy soles keep you steady during the pulses. What to bring: water and a small towel. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet your instructor. It clicks fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
