The classes they teach
“I would say Pure Barre is somewhere in between Bar Method (I found boring and repetitive) and Barre3 (more difficult and nicer, more modern studios).”
“I started my free trial week with a foundations class, and it was great to have that as an introduction before moving on to the classic and empower classes.”
What's on offer
“I do have two pieces of constructive criticism: - sticky socks shouldn't be required if the studio floor is carpeted!”
“Each format has a different combination of weights & equipment.”
“I tried out the studio as part of my class pass membership, and I loved it!”
“No matter how many times you have taken a class or how regularly you go, there is always a way to continue to challenge yourself and to see results.”
What members say again and again
“The studio is clean and well-kept and street parking in Eastern Market is easy or you can use the metro!”
“The teachers are lovely and take time to introduce themselves to new clients and be sure that they feel comfortable before the first class - this is what drew me in originally!”
“The instructors are great when helping with form and their encouragement in class helps me keep going.”
“Great workout and staff are always friendly, welcoming and encouraging.”
“I was looking for a studio that made me feel at home: remembered my name, had friendly instructors, and gave me a consistent, challenging workout.”
From the reviews
My favorite workout studio I’ve been to! I was looking for a studio that made me feel at home: remembered my name, had friendly instructors, and gave me a consistent, challenging workout.
PB Capitol Hill is an amazing and inviting studio. The teachers are lovely and attentive. This is a five star studio for sure. The pure barre classic is my class of choice but all classes are great and Challenging but in a good way. I always feel great leaving the studio after a workout.
I’ve been coming to the Capitol Hill studio for almost a year now and am in love with the various workout formats, the kind instructors, and the encouraging environment! I’ve struggled finding a workout that I enjoy, and Pure Barre is the only one I look forward to going to! Great community!
I've recently started going back to barre after several months off and I have to say, Pure Barre has kicked my behind in the best possible way. The class is fantastic; fast paced, intensive, and provides an all-over-body work out. All of which I desperately need to get back into shape.
Your first barre class at Pure Barre
New to barre? Almost everyone is their first time, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: barre blends small isometric holds and tiny pulses at a ballet barre with light weights and mat work — it's low-impact and joint-friendly, but it works muscles you didn't know you had, so a little shaking in your legs is the point, not a problem. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: fitted leggings and a top you can move in — nothing baggy, so the instructor can see your form. Grip socks: required here, and sold on-site if you don’t have a pair; the grippy soles keep you steady during the pulses. What to bring: water and a small towel. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet your instructor. It clicks fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
