From the reviews
I’ve been going to Barre3 Union Station for more than a year and it’s truly one of my favorite places in D.C. The instructors are incredibly welcoming and have created such a strong sense of community that supports everyone—no matter your ability level or experience.
I’ve tried out all types of barre classes over the last 15 years, and I am really impressed with Barre3. The classes are a great mix of barre, yoga, aerobics, and pilates. The instructors are great, never repetitive, and they each provide fun and effective variations of techniques during each class.
I started coming to barre3 at the beginning of the year and it has been such a wonderful boost for both my mental and physical health. Each of the instructors are delightful and the studio overall is supportive in a way that is challenging without being overbearing or competitive.
Started going to Barre3 as my get in shape for my wedding workout but two years later I still go multiple times a week! The instructors are so warm and friendly and the workout has everything I want out of a workout class. Highly recommend Barre3 Union Station to anyone interested in checking them out!
Your first barre class at barre3
New to barre? Almost everyone is their first time, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: barre blends small isometric holds and tiny pulses at a ballet barre with light weights and mat work — it's low-impact and joint-friendly, but it works muscles you didn't know you had, so a little shaking in your legs is the point, not a problem. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: fitted leggings and a top you can move in — nothing baggy, so the instructor can see your form. Grip socks: most barre studios require grip socks — bring a pair or check whether they sell them at the front desk; the grippy soles keep you steady during the pulses. What to bring: water and a small towel. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet your instructor. It clicks fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
