From the reviews

Pure Barre has changed my life! The community is great, everyone is super supportive. It is the first ever fitness program I have stuck with. I look forward to coming to class each day and feel off if I haven't been able to take a class. I'm about to do my 500th class and am so proud of that accomplishment.

My first class at Pure Barre was absolutely amazing. The instructors are extremely helpful and they discretely help people who have trouble with a specific move without pointing them out.

There aren’t enough positive sentiments to talk about Pure Barre Northampton! I have now been a member for a year and a strong sense of community, support and encouragement is felt every time I walk in the door. Never in my life have I ever looked forward to working out until now!

After meeting Denise, who is very knowledgeable and helpful, I signed up for the Align class to focus on gaining more flexibility and balance. Shaina taught the class, took the time to make sure I had proper alignment and posture, and made it an amazing experience!

Your first barre class at Pure Barre

New to barre? Almost everyone is their first time, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: barre blends small isometric holds and tiny pulses at a ballet barre with light weights and mat work — it's low-impact and joint-friendly, but it works muscles you didn't know you had, so a little shaking in your legs is the point, not a problem. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: fitted leggings and a top you can move in — nothing baggy, so the instructor can see your form. Grip socks: most barre studios require grip socks — bring a pair or check whether they sell them at the front desk; the grippy soles keep you steady during the pulses. What to bring: water and a small towel. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet your instructor. It clicks fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.

Barre is low-impact, so it suits most bodies and fitness levels — but if you're pregnant or working around an injury, check with a doctor and let your instructor know so they can offer modifications.
