From the reviews
Last August, I had been looking for a way to get back to exercising when I came across Pure Barre in Allen. After taking the intro class, I was immediately in! All of the instructors are top notch! I have really enjoyed taking the morning classes and have definitely noticed changes in my body and energy level.
I first discovered Pure Barre through my Functional Medicine Doctor, Katherine Johnson (huge shoutout—she’s amazing!). After repeatedly dealing with injuries from high-intensity workouts, she recommended I give it a try.
I have been a member of Pure Barre for about 9 years! I have made good friends here. All of the instructors and the owner (Melissa) are always very kind and helpful. I can confidently say that Pure Barre has become my “happy place” and I look forward to my daily workouts here.
I first discovered Pure Barre in 2021, when the cycling studio I was attending hosted an event offering a free class session. From then on I was hooked. I love the class formats and have gained so much endurance from attending the Barre. I have worked muscles I didn’t even know existed.
Your first barre class at Pure Barre
New to barre? Almost everyone is their first time, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: barre blends small isometric holds and tiny pulses at a ballet barre with light weights and mat work — it's low-impact and joint-friendly, but it works muscles you didn't know you had, so a little shaking in your legs is the point, not a problem. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: fitted leggings and a top you can move in — nothing baggy, so the instructor can see your form. Grip socks: most barre studios require grip socks — bring a pair or check whether they sell them at the front desk; the grippy soles keep you steady during the pulses. What to bring: water and a small towel. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet your instructor. It clicks fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
