From the reviews

I started last week and was so addicted to the joint pain relief I went four times! Yes I was super sore but every day, every time I go, my pain is reduced significantly! I was pretty out of shape and everyone has been so welcoming, helpful, and encouraging.

As a beginner to any fitness class, I can sometimes feel unsure or nervous. I’ve tried classes with 3 different instructors so far and have felt very welcome every class. The instructors take time to help with form and provide modifications.

I love neighborhood barre Oswego! The classes are challenging and fun. Everyone is so friendly. I have done many different workout classes at other places where no one even says hi to you. I was immediately surprised how kind and welcoming everyone is here. No one judges you if you are a beginner, they welcome it!

I recently started going to Neighborhood Barre and absolutely LOVE it! The instructors are ALL amazing and are great at motivating you which is great, I have struggled with getting back into exercise and everyone here has pushed me to be the best I can be in a fun friendly way.

Your first barre class at Neighborhood Barre Oswego

New to barre? Almost everyone is their first time, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: barre blends small isometric holds and tiny pulses at a ballet barre with light weights and mat work — it's low-impact and joint-friendly, but it works muscles you didn't know you had, so a little shaking in your legs is the point, not a problem. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: fitted leggings and a top you can move in — nothing baggy, so the instructor can see your form. Grip socks: required here, and sold on-site if you don’t have a pair; the grippy soles keep you steady during the pulses. What to bring: water and a small towel. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet your instructor. It clicks fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.

Barre is low-impact, so it suits most bodies and fitness levels — but if you're pregnant or working around an injury, check with a doctor and let your instructor know so they can offer modifications.
