From the reviews
If you're looking for the perfect Pilates Studio, look no further than Grass Valley Pilates. From the moment you enter, you're greeted with a warm and calming energy. This privately owned gem feels welcoming where Michele actually knows your name and your goals.
“You are never too old to do Pilates classes!” I am in my 80’s. I have been taking Pilates Classes for many years. I have been attending the “Mat & Barr” classes with Michele for the past two years. I can easily say she is the Best Instructor. Michele is very knowledgeable about the human body and Pilates positions.
My friend, Daphne and I wanted to try a Pilates reformer class. But because of our inactivity recently and our experience, we didn't want to have a full class but rather a semi-private and Michelle was amazing in accommodating our needs and was extraordinarily patient with some of our past injuries and persisted on…
I highly recommend Michele’s Grass Valley Pilates studio. I love all her offerings: the mat, barre, reformer classes, groups and private. I have recurring body aches and my back can get cranky at times and I feel in excellent, super competent hands with Michele.
Your first barre class at Grass Valley Pilates
New to barre? Almost everyone is their first time, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: barre blends small isometric holds and tiny pulses at a ballet barre with light weights and mat work — it's low-impact and joint-friendly, but it works muscles you didn't know you had, so a little shaking in your legs is the point, not a problem. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: fitted leggings and a top you can move in — nothing baggy, so the instructor can see your form. Grip socks: most barre studios require grip socks — bring a pair or check whether they sell them at the front desk; the grippy soles keep you steady during the pulses. What to bring: water and a small towel. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet your instructor. It clicks fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
