From the reviews
My oldest daughter has been with Beyond The Barre since age 3 she will soon be 8 yrs. old. It has been such a great experience for her and her younger sister who plans on attending summer camp this year/fall semester.
Beyond the Barre focuses on correct technique and strength and development. This ensures that not only are the dancers beautiful dancers, but are less likely to get injured. Wether your dancer plans to go on and dance professionally or just wants to have fun, this is the perfect place.
I love Beyond the Barre! Both my children take ballet at BtB; my oldest has been practicing here for years. It has improved her confidence and focus, as well as her love of dance. The teachers and the owner take a child-centered approach while teaching high-quality lessons.
All three of my children have a condition that causes their ligaments to be too lax. When muscles over-tighten to compensate, risk of explosive injury increases.
Your first barre class at Beyond the Barre, LLC
New to barre? Almost everyone is their first time, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: barre blends small isometric holds and tiny pulses at a ballet barre with light weights and mat work — it's low-impact and joint-friendly, but it works muscles you didn't know you had, so a little shaking in your legs is the point, not a problem. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: fitted leggings and a top you can move in — nothing baggy, so the instructor can see your form. Grip socks: most barre studios require grip socks — bring a pair or check whether they sell them at the front desk; the grippy soles keep you steady during the pulses. What to bring: water and a small towel. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet your instructor. It clicks fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
