From the reviews

I started classes at 925 Barre about a year and a half ago and I can say that it has truly changed my life. I had never really exercised before and my body was starting to fall apart. I am so much stronger, healthier and better connected to my body. The teachers are all amazing and supportive.

A friend recommended I join Barre 925, and I am so glad I did. There is a feeling of community there; from the instructors to the members. There was a piece on PBS recently that talked about how exercising with others creates a sense of community and well being. And it's true!

Confession: I have NEVER taken a barre class in my life. For whatever reason I thought it was an elite club of ex–prima ballerinas who can pirouette while balancing a latte. The barre has always felt… a little intimidating. Today I took Alicia’s class at barre925 and—shockingly—I survived.

I’ve been coming to Barre925 for about 2.5 years now and I absolutely love this studio! Barre925 offers a variety of challenging classes throughout the day, such as barre, strength, cardio barre, and sculpt. The teachers are amazing!

Your first barre class at barre925

New to barre? Almost everyone is their first time, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: barre blends small isometric holds and tiny pulses at a ballet barre with light weights and mat work — it's low-impact and joint-friendly, but it works muscles you didn't know you had, so a little shaking in your legs is the point, not a problem. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: fitted leggings and a top you can move in — nothing baggy, so the instructor can see your form. Grip socks: most barre studios require grip socks — bring a pair or check whether they sell them at the front desk; the grippy soles keep you steady during the pulses. What to bring: water and a small towel. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet your instructor. It clicks fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.

Barre is low-impact, so it suits most bodies and fitness levels — but if you're pregnant or working around an injury, check with a doctor and let your instructor know so they can offer modifications.
