From the reviews
I had previously frequented Barre3 at two other studios in the Bay Area and have really enjoyed the workout for years. It is challenging while still being welcoming to all fitness levels.
I've been going to Barre3 classes in San Carlos for 6+ years, I think. I was hooked at my first trial class. Now I'm nearly 80 and I can't do without it. It's like physical therapy for my whole body. And the atmosphere and all the people there are so welcoming and delightful.
I have been coming to this studio since 2019 and it is one of my favorite workouts ever. (I never did group fitness before this, and now I've been doing it for 5 years!) I love the variety of classes, the instructors, and the welcoming staff at the front desk. The studio is clean and well-managed.
I have been a member of the San Carlos Barre3 studio for almost 10 years. I guess you can say I am hooked :) Even though I no longer live in the area, I enjoying moving with the team over livestream. Can’t say enough good things about the instructors and the community they have built.
Your first barre class at barre3
New to barre? Almost everyone is their first time, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: barre blends small isometric holds and tiny pulses at a ballet barre with light weights and mat work — it's low-impact and joint-friendly, but it works muscles you didn't know you had, so a little shaking in your legs is the point, not a problem. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: fitted leggings and a top you can move in — nothing baggy, so the instructor can see your form. Grip socks: most barre studios require grip socks — bring a pair or check whether they sell them at the front desk; the grippy soles keep you steady during the pulses. What to bring: water and a small towel. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet your instructor. It clicks fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
