I love everything about Barre3 Madison! The classes are always challenging in the best way, and the instructors are incredibly supportive and motivating. Incredible, intimate, and warm studio that offers challenging yet joyful workouts. Incorporates both strength and cardio. Im a runner and found that this filled a much needed gap in my fitness. Strongly recommend.
Barre3 exceeds my expectations, thanks to its exceptional instructors who are not only motivated and energized but also incredibly friendly and kind, which makes my 'me' time even more valuable.
I’m an older woman … in the over 70 crowd. I know how important it is to stay active and strong … but fitness clubs and gyms aren’t my thing. I’ve done a lot of walking and stretching and really enjoy that but when my health plan included some “wellness” perks I took a look.
Your first barre class at barre3
New to barre? Almost everyone is their first time, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: barre blends small isometric holds and tiny pulses at a ballet barre with light weights and mat work — it's low-impact and joint-friendly, but it works muscles you didn't know you had, so a little shaking in your legs is the point, not a problem. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: fitted leggings and a top you can move in — nothing baggy, so the instructor can see your form. Grip socks: most barre studios require grip socks — bring a pair or check whether they sell them at the front desk; the grippy soles keep you steady during the pulses. What to bring: water and a small towel. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet your instructor. It clicks fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
