From the reviews
We had a fantastic experience at The Barre Code - Mount Pleasant! We attended a Brawl class here as part of my bachelorette weekend in Charleston. The studio was incredibly accommodating for our medium-sized group of mostly inexperienced attendees.
I have been coming to The Barre Code for years and I keep coming back because I love it! The classes are challenging and always a great workout. The instructors are so kind, energetic, and informed. It's a really welcoming community.
I searched and tried multiple fitness centers before selecting Barre Code Mount Pleasant and have never regretted my decision! The instructors are top-notch, they focus on form and are experts with training. The smaller class size allows for instructor feedback for fine-tuning and the classes are always different.
I am so thankful to have found The Barre Code - Courtney and her staff are incredibly encouraging and welcoming! I was brand new to fitness and was intimidated by the challenging classes, but Courtney and her instructors were patient and encouraging and made me feel comfortable as a new beginner!
Your first barre class at Barre Code Mount Pleasant
New to barre? Almost everyone is their first time, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: barre blends small isometric holds and tiny pulses at a ballet barre with light weights and mat work — it's low-impact and joint-friendly, but it works muscles you didn't know you had, so a little shaking in your legs is the point, not a problem. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: fitted leggings and a top you can move in — nothing baggy, so the instructor can see your form. Grip socks: most barre studios require grip socks — bring a pair or check whether they sell them at the front desk; the grippy soles keep you steady during the pulses. What to bring: water and a small towel. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet your instructor. It clicks fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
