From the reviews
Love this studio - I have been coming here for several years, starting with barre (which I love) but more recently have taken to Pilates and MELTMethod as they are wonderful compliments to my running. Pilates for truly improving core strength and MELTMethod to really care for my entire body (it's incredible!).
What an amazing place! Beautiful studio in the North End. Instructors are fabulous and each class is totally different each week. Super challenging classes in barre and wonderful yoga to round out your workout routine, taught by experienced teachers. Many other types of classes to try.
This is a wonderful studio, located right off State Street on 28th Street. It is super easy to park and really easy to find. The studio is spotless always and full of equipment and smiling faces. It is a welcoming atmosphere for all.
I love this studio and wonderful community ... everyone is so kind and helpful. I frequent the MELT classes that have helped with flexibility and pain after a knee replacement. The space is clean and welcoming; and for the past 7 years, I've always had a great experience.
Your first barre class at 28th Street Barre
New to barre? Almost everyone is their first time, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: barre blends small isometric holds and tiny pulses at a ballet barre with light weights and mat work — it's low-impact and joint-friendly, but it works muscles you didn't know you had, so a little shaking in your legs is the point, not a problem. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: fitted leggings and a top you can move in — nothing baggy, so the instructor can see your form. Grip socks: most barre studios require grip socks — bring a pair or check whether they sell them at the front desk; the grippy soles keep you steady during the pulses. What to bring: water and a small towel. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet your instructor. It clicks fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
