I've been attending this studio for 6 months. When I started Southern Barre, I was in a fitness rut. I hadn't worked out regularly in over two years. While a generally "active" and healthy person, my cardio fitness and strength levels were low, and I was intimidated to get back into it.
Emily, an instructor at the Hendersonville location is phenomenal. Her classes are exhaustive in the best way. She goes the extra mile. She actually researched ways that she could incorporate core exercises into class to help me with my diastis recti after pregnancy. So appreciated!!!
If you are looking for a full body workout to tone and strengthen, Southern Barre is the place for you! The instructors are committed to helping clients be their very best. I love the positive and encouraging environment they create. I have seen great results, but more importantly I feel strong and healthy!
Love, love, love this place. All of the instructors are amazing and I look forward to every class and they provide me with such a positive start to my day. It's challenging but doable for someone advanced or just starting to workout again after a long hiatus like me. Love the teachers they're so inspirational.

New to barre? Almost everyone is their first time, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: barre blends small isometric holds and tiny pulses at a ballet barre with light weights and mat work — it's low-impact and joint-friendly, but it works muscles you didn't know you had, so a little shaking in your legs is the point, not a problem. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: fitted leggings and a top you can move in — nothing baggy, so the instructor can see your form. Grip socks: most barre studios require grip socks — bring a pair or check whether they sell them at the front desk; the grippy soles keep you steady during the pulses. What to bring: water and a small towel. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet your instructor. It clicks fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
