From the reviews
Tuck is a one of a kind studio! They are so friendly, communicative, and adaptable (a huge plus given the uncertainty of the past year!)! I appreciate the sheer number of options available via the Tuck Online workouts, and I love that you can tell the instructors are having fun with their recordings.
UPDATE Jan 2024: I’ve now been a member for 1.5 years and my love for the studio has continued to grow. Just had my first class at the new location at 23rd and Wash and OMG it is gorgeous, looks straight out of an anthro magazine.
I found out summer of last year Tuck would be moving to my neighborhood (grad hospital) but decided to try out the Point Breeze location first to see if I liked it. I can say without a shadow of a doubt it was the best decision I’ve ever made for myself.
I've tried countless gyms and studios where I ended up cancelling my membership a month or so in. I've never felt like I was advanced enough or fit enough to be a part of those communities. Tuck's culture is different, and you can tell from the moment you walk in the door (or join the zoom).
Your first barre class at Tuck Barre & Yoga Graduate Hospital
New to barre? Almost everyone is their first time, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: barre blends small isometric holds and tiny pulses at a ballet barre with light weights and mat work — it's low-impact and joint-friendly, but it works muscles you didn't know you had, so a little shaking in your legs is the point, not a problem. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: fitted leggings and a top you can move in — nothing baggy, so the instructor can see your form. Grip socks: most barre studios require grip socks — bring a pair or check whether they sell them at the front desk; the grippy soles keep you steady during the pulses. What to bring: water and a small towel. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet your instructor. It clicks fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
