From the reviews
I’ve been going to Studio Ivanhoe for about 8 months now and I love it so much. The instructors are down to earth and are great with me as a beginner. Pilates has saved me postpartum and I was relieved being so welcomed in a bigger body. I’m grateful to have found this studio in my neighborhood!
I’ve officially been coming to this studio for one year and can’t think of any complaints. The instructors at Studio Ivanhoe took me (a woman who had never done more than the occasional mat class that I hated!) and turned me into someone who loves Pilates.
I’ve been attending classes at Studio Ivanhoe for about 3 months. All of the instructors are kind, patient and professional. I like the variety of classes and the schedule has enough options that I never have a problem finding a class that fits my schedule.
I finally tried this studio after moving into the neighborhood and about 9 months of will I/wont I, I’m so glad I did! The instructors are all great, there’s a really good spread of class times available, and the general ~feel~ of the studio is 👌
Your first barre class at Studio Ivanhoe Pilates & Movement
New to barre? Almost everyone is their first time, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: barre blends small isometric holds and tiny pulses at a ballet barre with light weights and mat work — it's low-impact and joint-friendly, but it works muscles you didn't know you had, so a little shaking in your legs is the point, not a problem. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: fitted leggings and a top you can move in — nothing baggy, so the instructor can see your form. Grip socks: most barre studios require grip socks — bring a pair or check whether they sell them at the front desk; the grippy soles keep you steady during the pulses. What to bring: water and a small towel. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet your instructor. It clicks fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
