From the reviews
The Good: - Super friendly staff — they greeted me by name the moment I walked in, which was such a nice touch. They really made me feel at home and ready to practice. - Great community vibe. Everyone was welcoming and kind, which made the whole experience feel warm and inclusive.
I have been practicing at SHY for almost 4 years & could not feel more blessed to have this studio in our area. Initially, I signed up to get some exercise — but this studio has gradually turned into a sanctuary for me. I have developed friendships that will last a lifetime.
Wonderful place. Excellent atmosphere and amazing instructors. The teachers make sure that it feels like it is a completely individual experience tailored to suit your needs! Everyone seems to know each other and get along. I was hooked after my first class. I've been recommending SHY to all my friends.
I’m so happy to have found a traditional Hot 60 yoga class! The new studio in Lace Village is beautiful with great parking. The instructors are all very welcoming, attentive, and knowledgeable. The owner Christine goes out of her way to be accommodating and ensure that everyone has a great class!
Your first barre class at Steamtown Hot Yoga & Barre
New to barre? Almost everyone is their first time, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: barre blends small isometric holds and tiny pulses at a ballet barre with light weights and mat work — it's low-impact and joint-friendly, but it works muscles you didn't know you had, so a little shaking in your legs is the point, not a problem. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: fitted leggings and a top you can move in — nothing baggy, so the instructor can see your form. Grip socks: most barre studios require grip socks — bring a pair or check whether they sell them at the front desk; the grippy soles keep you steady during the pulses. What to bring: water and a small towel. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet your instructor. It clicks fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
