I purchased a 1-month package at Smart Barre that I used this past summer. Ultimately, I ended up choosing a different barre studio only because of its proximity to my house (Smart Barre was about a 20 minute drive from me). However, I LOVED the workouts here!
I have taken smart barre for roughly ten years! I still get sore every week! I have been during and post both of my pregnancies, and credit smart barre for my flexibility and fitness! Love it!
I want to take Barre classes! This place seems like it could be the place I'm searching for!
Smart Barre Camp Bowie has been instrumental in my complete recovery from a mental health crisis that impacted me in physical ways. After spending months in bed, I was unable to move in the usual manner. Physical therapy first addressed this to get to a semi-normal range of motion.
Your first barre class at Smart Barre Camp Bowie
New to barre? Almost everyone is their first time, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: barre blends small isometric holds and tiny pulses at a ballet barre with light weights and mat work — it's low-impact and joint-friendly, but it works muscles you didn't know you had, so a little shaking in your legs is the point, not a problem. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: fitted leggings and a top you can move in — nothing baggy, so the instructor can see your form. Grip socks: most barre studios require grip socks — bring a pair or check whether they sell them at the front desk; the grippy soles keep you steady during the pulses. What to bring: water and a small towel. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet your instructor. It clicks fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
