“I’ve danced as an adult for 7 years and I love everything about this studio from the teachers to the classes to my friends who have become family.”

From the reviews

My daughter been going here since she was about 2 years old and she loves it. I found out about set the barre through Groupon which gives an amazing deal. Also Mrs. Jessica and the rest of the teachers are so kind, patient and so dedicated to teach the kids to dance.

Set the Barre is such a gem! Miss Jessica, the owner, is incredibly kind, professional, and passionate about dance. She creates a welcoming, positive environment where dancers of all ages can learn, grow, and have fun. Highly recommend!

★★★★★ — Jess, Nov 2023

We are going into our 7th season with Set The Barre. There is no where else I would take my girls. Ms. Jess and the other teachers at this studio have become family to us! My girls love to dance and these teachers love to teach it! But they don’t only teach dance, they’ve taught my daughters so much more.

Your first barre class at Set The Barre

New to barre? Almost everyone is their first time, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: barre blends small isometric holds and tiny pulses at a ballet barre with light weights and mat work — it's low-impact and joint-friendly, but it works muscles you didn't know you had, so a little shaking in your legs is the point, not a problem. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: fitted leggings and a top you can move in — nothing baggy, so the instructor can see your form. Grip socks: most barre studios require grip socks — bring a pair or check whether they sell them at the front desk; the grippy soles keep you steady during the pulses. What to bring: water and a small towel. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet your instructor. It clicks fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.

Barre is low-impact, so it suits most bodies and fitness levels — but if you're pregnant or working around an injury, check with a doctor and let your instructor know so they can offer modifications.
