I love this studio. The classes are fun and challenging with plenty of cues as I am a beginner. I get such a feeling of accomplishment and joy when I make it through an entire class giving my everything to make the most of the session.

There are plenty of places you can go to work out. Very few feel like a true community, and even fewer feel like a place where you can simply walk in exactly as you are and be welcomed without judgment. That is what Real Hot Yoga has been for me for years.

★★★★★ — Cindy, May 2026

Real Hot Yoga has been such a grounding part of my life for the past 18 months. What started as a workout quickly became something so much deeper—a space where I feel calm, safe, and completely myself. One of the most meaningful parts of my routine is Stephanie’s Sunday yin class—it’s a class I rarely miss.

Your first barre class at Real Hot Yoga - Johnson City

New to barre? Almost everyone is their first time, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: barre blends small isometric holds and tiny pulses at a ballet barre with light weights and mat work — it's low-impact and joint-friendly, but it works muscles you didn't know you had, so a little shaking in your legs is the point, not a problem. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: fitted leggings and a top you can move in — nothing baggy, so the instructor can see your form. Grip socks: most barre studios require grip socks — bring a pair or check whether they sell them at the front desk; the grippy soles keep you steady during the pulses. What to bring: water and a small towel. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet your instructor. It clicks fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.

Barre is low-impact, so it suits most bodies and fitness levels — but if you're pregnant or working around an injury, check with a doctor and let your instructor know so they can offer modifications.
