From the reviews
Have been a member here since 2017. Best run gym I've ever belonged to, over a 40 year span. Fell in love with barre (and Pilates) at a local full-service gym, but like every other full-service gym I've seen close up, there were issues with class availability, overcrowding (in the good classes) and retention of…
I've been a Pure Barre client for almost 9 years now. I just can't quit the strength it gives me and the post-class "glow", especially as a runner where hip strength, posture, and balance are so important. After having a child, moving, and taking a long break, I needed PB to get back to the swing of things.
I’ve been coming to this Pure Barre studio for years, and it continues to be the highlight of my routine. The instructors are always encouraging, the classes are consistently challenging, and the community they’ve built is so welcoming. I’m grateful for this studio—it’s truly the best.
Very positive experience. I joined the Pure Barre studio in Princeton in 2017 and have been going two to three times a week ever since. The owner, Jacqui, and all the other teachers are upbeat and professional. It's a great full-body work-out.
Your first barre class at Pure Barre
New to barre? Almost everyone is their first time, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: barre blends small isometric holds and tiny pulses at a ballet barre with light weights and mat work — it's low-impact and joint-friendly, but it works muscles you didn't know you had, so a little shaking in your legs is the point, not a problem. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: fitted leggings and a top you can move in — nothing baggy, so the instructor can see your form. Grip socks: most barre studios require grip socks — bring a pair or check whether they sell them at the front desk; the grippy soles keep you steady during the pulses. What to bring: water and a small towel. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet your instructor. It clicks fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
