I got a promo code for a free trial class and, not knowing what to expect, I signed up for the class alone. I typically hate workout classes of any type, especially when it's a brand new concept. Kate Hannon was the instructor for my class and made the whole experience very welcoming!!
I am from out of town but I make a point to take a class here every time I come to visit family. It’s a beautiful studio, a nice community and the instructors are excellent and kind. This is a great workout in a supportive environment.
The classes are very challenging and instructors make an effort to learn your name.
I joined Pure Barre Des Peres mostly due to location. I did not know anyone or anything much about the facility. Your first barre class at Pure Barre
New to barre? Almost everyone is their first time, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: barre blends small isometric holds and tiny pulses at a ballet barre with light weights and mat work — it's low-impact and joint-friendly, but it works muscles you didn't know you had, so a little shaking in your legs is the point, not a problem. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: fitted leggings and a top you can move in — nothing baggy, so the instructor can see your form. Grip socks: most barre studios require grip socks — bring a pair or check whether they sell them at the front desk; the grippy soles keep you steady during the pulses. What to bring: water and a small towel. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet your instructor. It clicks fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
