From the reviews
The first three or so classes really suck. You have no idea what's going on, or what you're doing. After about three classes you'll get the swing of things. I hated the first class but kept going because the first week was free. After that I used their new client special and I really enjoy it now.
I have been going to Pure Barre Crofton for five years and it is the only workout that I’ve done consistently in my entire life. The results are fast and you can start at any level. As you continue to go, your form becomes better, you become stronger, and the class challenges you in different ways as you you progress.
Pure Barre Crofton, or PBC as it is better known to those who attend often, is much more than a workout, it is an entire community of amazing women (and a few men!). The workout itself is a challenging 50 minutes of total body work. There is not a ton of cardio for those who want to avoid running & the like.
Pure Barre has been a game-changer in my life, and I'm so glad I joined in February 2024. Initially, I was nervous and shy, but after trying out my first class, I was hooked and bought a package of four classes for the month. I enjoyed the classes so much that I eventually upgraded to an unlimited membership.
Your first barre class at Pure Barre Crofton
New to barre? Almost everyone is their first time, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: barre blends small isometric holds and tiny pulses at a ballet barre with light weights and mat work — it's low-impact and joint-friendly, but it works muscles you didn't know you had, so a little shaking in your legs is the point, not a problem. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: fitted leggings and a top you can move in — nothing baggy, so the instructor can see your form. Grip socks: most barre studios require grip socks — bring a pair or check whether they sell them at the front desk; the grippy soles keep you steady during the pulses. What to bring: water and a small towel. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet your instructor. It clicks fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
