From the reviews
Pure Barre is the place to go in Chapel Hill for a great full body and low-impact workout. As a working mama, I need a lot of punch for my time and I love that it’s a challenging workout that packs in all the needed muscle groups in just a 50 minute class.
I find it hard to believe that I experienced Pure Barre Chapel Hill/Durham for the first time in 2014. I took one class and never looked back. Since then, Pure Barre has expanded from one format to four formats, plus many varying specialty classes in between.
Adding PB Chapel Hill to my crazy life as a UNC dental student has been one of my BEST decisions! Even with my busy M-F 8a-5pm schedule, I am still able to attend their awesome classes throughout the week (averaging about 5 class per week).
I know it sounds dramatic to say that Pure Barre changed my life, but it's true! PB Chapel Hill is like a family, and I have treasured my time there. Whether you choose to go in studio or (in deference to Covid) take classes online, you will find yourself feeling great after each class.
Your first barre class at Pure Barre
New to barre? Almost everyone is their first time, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: barre blends small isometric holds and tiny pulses at a ballet barre with light weights and mat work — it's low-impact and joint-friendly, but it works muscles you didn't know you had, so a little shaking in your legs is the point, not a problem. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: fitted leggings and a top you can move in — nothing baggy, so the instructor can see your form. Grip socks: most barre studios require grip socks — bring a pair or check whether they sell them at the front desk; the grippy soles keep you steady during the pulses. What to bring: water and a small towel. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet your instructor. It clicks fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
