This was the first Pure Barre studio to open north of Boston, so the classes here tend to get packed! The instructors are wonderful and I haven't had a bad experience in the 1.5 yrs that I've attended. The best deal you can get is the new client special which is a month of unlimited classes for $100.
You have to try this place. Their instructors are incredible. Upbeat, fun music, challenging classes, no pressure to keep up with the more experienced group. I joined after being a dancer in my past life and couldn't do more than half of the exercises without fading.
First time ever doing classes like these and they are very challenging, but I love it. The instructors are informative, inviting, helpful and nice. You can keep up with your own pace and comfortability. I look forward to my journey with them to see how far I can come.
I love Pure Barre. It's the perfect workout for those that no longer keep up with the rigorous ballet, gymnastics, and other dance training of their youths OR even just women looking to get a work out where you can clearly feel and quickly see results throughout your entire body.
Your first barre class at Pure Barre
New to barre? Almost everyone is their first time, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: barre blends small isometric holds and tiny pulses at a ballet barre with light weights and mat work — it's low-impact and joint-friendly, but it works muscles you didn't know you had, so a little shaking in your legs is the point, not a problem. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: fitted leggings and a top you can move in — nothing baggy, so the instructor can see your form. Grip socks: most barre studios require grip socks — bring a pair or check whether they sell them at the front desk; the grippy soles keep you steady during the pulses. What to bring: water and a small towel. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet your instructor. It clicks fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
