From the reviews
I love Pure Barre — it combines everything I’m looking for in a workout: it’s engaging, versatile, non-competitive and meditative, all while being very challenging. The instructors at Cobble Hill are amazing — their energy and instruction are both top notch.
I decided to take this class with 3 of my guy friends and my sister so we could try something new. This was such a great experience from the beginning till the end. When we walked in, we were greeted by the manager Melaina with a smile and great energy.
The staff here is very pleasant and welcoming. As a black woman sometimes going into these spaces can be uncomfortable and intimidating as we generally feel like we don’t belong. However the staff here is amazing and treats everyone with grace.
I had a wonderful 2 years with this studio in and am very sad to leave it as I’m moving out of state. I wanted to shout out my very favorite instructors who were Hailey (amazing sense of rhythm/flow) and Erika and Iliana who have just the most motivating attitudes.
Your first barre class at Pure Barre
New to barre? Almost everyone is their first time, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: barre blends small isometric holds and tiny pulses at a ballet barre with light weights and mat work — it's low-impact and joint-friendly, but it works muscles you didn't know you had, so a little shaking in your legs is the point, not a problem. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: fitted leggings and a top you can move in — nothing baggy, so the instructor can see your form. Grip socks: most barre studios require grip socks — bring a pair or check whether they sell them at the front desk; the grippy soles keep you steady during the pulses. What to bring: water and a small towel. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet your instructor. It clicks fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
