From the reviews
I’ve been in the fitness industry for over 25 years and these are THE BEST classes in Ankeny. They are a bit pricey BUT it’s well worth the price because they make sure you are doing everything correct as far as form. I’ve taken classes before and needed either physical therapy or chiro afterwards.
I love how strong and energized I feel after a Pure Barre workout with Katie! Pure Barre Ankeny has amazing instructors, and a fun and supportive community!
A very professional group of coaches who make you feel comfortable regardless of whether you are a beginner or experienced. A criticism I had of other gym memberships or classes I had attended in the past was the lack of attention the coaches gave to correcting form and technique.
Katie as an owner of PB Ankeny is amazing. She surrounds herself with an excellent staff from the front desk to the studio. The instructors are talented, patient, kind & fun. The community of women is a wide-range of ages & backgrounds with the common thread kindness & encouragement.
Your first barre class at Pure Barre
New to barre? Almost everyone is their first time, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: barre blends small isometric holds and tiny pulses at a ballet barre with light weights and mat work — it's low-impact and joint-friendly, but it works muscles you didn't know you had, so a little shaking in your legs is the point, not a problem. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: fitted leggings and a top you can move in — nothing baggy, so the instructor can see your form. Grip socks: most barre studios require grip socks — bring a pair or check whether they sell them at the front desk; the grippy soles keep you steady during the pulses. What to bring: water and a small towel. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet your instructor. It clicks fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
