I’ve taken group fitness classes from pretty much every studio around Knoxville, and Neighborhood Barre is by far my favorite one I’ve been a part of. The instructors are kind and personable and the workouts are enjoyable and super effective!
I've taken four classes and I am hooked. I work out regularly so I was surprised that I have been sore! This definitely works muscles that haven't been used, even with regular workouts. Every instructor is fabulous! So friendly and welcoming and the atmosphere is low key and comfortable.
I recently attended a class at Neighborhood Barre Bearden, and I was thoroughly impressed. The owner, Danelle, is incredibly welcoming and creates a friendly and supportive atmosphere. The class itself was challenging; it is nothing like any other Pilates/Barre studios in the area.
NEIGHBORHOOD barre Knoxville has been such a great experience. Everyone is incredibly welcoming & helped me learn to tuck! As someone who is using barre as cross training for my “primary” sport of running, I have found barre classes to be effective in strengthening my muscles - total body!

New to barre? Almost everyone is their first time, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: barre blends small isometric holds and tiny pulses at a ballet barre with light weights and mat work — it's low-impact and joint-friendly, but it works muscles you didn't know you had, so a little shaking in your legs is the point, not a problem. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: fitted leggings and a top you can move in — nothing baggy, so the instructor can see your form. Grip socks: most barre studios require grip socks — bring a pair or check whether they sell them at the front desk; the grippy soles keep you steady during the pulses. What to bring: water and a small towel. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet your instructor. It clicks fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
