The first time I took a barre class with Janine, I knew she was special! She has an incredible way of pushing you to YOUR own limit, but in the most caring, encouraging, and downright FUN way!!! 🙃 I have Lyme Disease, so daily movement is so important for me, and every time I take class with Janine, I feel amazing!!
There is no where else I’d rather be breaking a sweat! I met Janine 5 years ago and her style of fitness, personality and love for what she does is unlike anything you’ve experienced! Her cardio dance class is a blast and her transform class kicks your butt in a good way! I am forever a JBird!
JBird Fitness is one of my favorite studios. The classes are fun, thoughtfully designed, and truly unique. Unlike other studios, they offer a great blend of Pilates, barre, and yoga, along with strength and stretch. The dance cardio classes are especially fun you don’t even realize you’re working out.
I started Pilates in October as one of my friends introduced me, I was familiar but never had taken a class. I come from the strength training background along with riding horses so this was all new to me. I was worried I wouldn’t “fit in” or make a fool of myself for trying something new and challenging.
Your first barre class at JBird Fitness : Fly on a Fitness High
New to barre? Almost everyone is their first time, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: barre blends small isometric holds and tiny pulses at a ballet barre with light weights and mat work — it's low-impact and joint-friendly, but it works muscles you didn't know you had, so a little shaking in your legs is the point, not a problem. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: fitted leggings and a top you can move in — nothing baggy, so the instructor can see your form. Grip socks: most barre studios require grip socks — bring a pair or check whether they sell them at the front desk; the grippy soles keep you steady during the pulses. What to bring: water and a small towel. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet your instructor. It clicks fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
