Curious about Barre3? Stop on in! There are so many great studios in the Grand Rapids area and we're lucky to have this amazing woman-owned Barre 3 studio amongst them. It can be intimidating to walk into a new place, but the welcome here is warm and empowering.
I am thrilled to share my positive review of The Barre Code in Grand Rapids! This studio is truly an exceptional place to achieve your fitness goals and feel great doing it. One of the things I love most about The Barre Code is their philosophy of "nothing to lose and everything to gain.
I was visiting Grand Rapids from Chicago and needed a place to work out—so glad I found Barre3! I joined the waitlist for a strength-focused barre class and called the studio to ask how it worked. To my surprise, one of the staff members gave up their own spot so I could attend.
I did my first ever barre class at barre3 and loved it- I appreciated the careful orientation I got to the space and the class. The environment is lovely with nice touches- the vibe is friendly and not at all intimidating for a beginner.
Your first barre class at barre3
New to barre? Almost everyone is their first time, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: barre blends small isometric holds and tiny pulses at a ballet barre with light weights and mat work — it's low-impact and joint-friendly, but it works muscles you didn't know you had, so a little shaking in your legs is the point, not a problem. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: fitted leggings and a top you can move in — nothing baggy, so the instructor can see your form. Grip socks: most barre studios require grip socks — bring a pair or check whether they sell them at the front desk; the grippy soles keep you steady during the pulses. What to bring: water and a small towel. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet your instructor. It clicks fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
