From the reviews

Barre3 has become an absolute staple for me! I don’t like working out but barre3 has become a must in my routine. I love that they meet you where you are, you can have a day where you’re not feeling great and they’ll offer modifications or if you want to push yourself the instructors will cheer you on.

This was my first time at Barre 3. It was such a great experience! Rachael Gannon was the instructor for the class I took. She was so helpful with me being a beginner. She showed alternate ways to do the exercises and I did not feel uncomfortable doing something different than most of the class.

I immediately fell in love with barre3 among joining the studio! From my first class until now I have felt welcomed, supported and encouraged. Jacki is the most welcoming person ever and I love seeing her everyday! Highly recommend classes taught by Holly, Rachel S, and Rachel G—all of the instructors are amazing.

From the very first hello at the front desk, I knew this was my place. The energy is welcoming, the instructors are upbeat, motivating, and genuinely kind, and the classes move at just the right pace for any age or fitness level. Barre3 has officially become my favorite place to be at 6 a.m.

Your first barre class at barre3

New to barre? Almost everyone is their first time, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: barre blends small isometric holds and tiny pulses at a ballet barre with light weights and mat work — it's low-impact and joint-friendly, but it works muscles you didn't know you had, so a little shaking in your legs is the point, not a problem. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: fitted leggings and a top you can move in — nothing baggy, so the instructor can see your form. Grip socks: most barre studios require grip socks — bring a pair or check whether they sell them at the front desk; the grippy soles keep you steady during the pulses. What to bring: water and a small towel. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet your instructor. It clicks fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.

Barre is low-impact, so it suits most bodies and fitness levels — but if you're pregnant or working around an injury, check with a doctor and let your instructor know so they can offer modifications.
