From the reviews
I highly recommend this studio! From day one I felt welcomed and one of the best things about it is the community they have built. I had never done yoga before so I was a little nervous on what to expect as a newbie.
Barre Up is truly one of a kind. The community here is welcoming, uplifting, and so supportive. Whether you’re brand new or a regular, you feel like you belong the moment you walk in.
I impulsively got a three week unlimited pass for Barre Up in January and haven’t looked back since! I love how I can take classes 5-6 times a week and have variety in movement while training consistently. The range of classes (yoga, Pilates, barre, strength training, etc.) offered is perfect for me.
The studio encompasses the traditional, classical and the contemporary and modern movements. Whatever one seeks, be it mobility, balance, cardio, posture or simply a place to be oneself, this is where one finds it.
Your first barre class at Barre-Up Raleigh
New to barre? Almost everyone is their first time, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: barre blends small isometric holds and tiny pulses at a ballet barre with light weights and mat work — it's low-impact and joint-friendly, but it works muscles you didn't know you had, so a little shaking in your legs is the point, not a problem. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: fitted leggings and a top you can move in — nothing baggy, so the instructor can see your form. Grip socks: most barre studios require grip socks — bring a pair or check whether they sell them at the front desk; the grippy soles keep you steady during the pulses. What to bring: water and a small towel. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet your instructor. It clicks fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
