I can’t say enough about this workout and its instructor, Bev! After 6 weeks, l’ve gained strength and lost weight!!! I truly see my body changing, which is refreshing when putting forth such effort. In class, from what I’ve observed is that every exercise has a clear intention.
Bev’s barre class has been a game-changer for me. In just two weeks, I can already see a noticeable difference in my strength and muscle tone. She strikes the perfect balance between pushing you to your limits and keeping the class enjoyable.
I was nervous to try Bev's class. I'd taken barre in the past, but hadn't kept a regular workout routine for the past several years. I finally decided it was time, and was immediately hooked. I am SO grateful to have Bev here in Anacortes!
The best place to workout in Anacortes if you ask me. Bev's classes are well rounded and effective. The environment is supportive and fun- good vibes all around. I love that Barre by the Sea feels like a community. Plus its easy to pop into the Majestic for a massage every now and then!
Your first barre class at Barre by the Sea Fitness
New to barre? Almost everyone is their first time, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: barre blends small isometric holds and tiny pulses at a ballet barre with light weights and mat work — it's low-impact and joint-friendly, but it works muscles you didn't know you had, so a little shaking in your legs is the point, not a problem. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: fitted leggings and a top you can move in — nothing baggy, so the instructor can see your form. Grip socks: most barre studios require grip socks — bring a pair or check whether they sell them at the front desk; the grippy soles keep you steady during the pulses. What to bring: water and a small towel. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet your instructor. It clicks fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
