From the reviews
My daughter absolutely loves her classes at Above the Barre. ATB creates a fun, creative, and safe environment where kids can step outside their comfort zone and build confidence.
We are in our sixth year of dance and gymnastics classes at Above the Barr. We started both our our kids in "Parent & Child" Dance and gymnastics before they were 3 years old and the experience was so great we have stayed! Our oldest dancer is in her second season of Dance Company and had her first solo this year.
Our family has been a part of Above the Barre for around 9 years now. My kids are there almost every day. It has truly become their second home! The older girls are such phenomenal role models and are so supportive of the younger dancers. The teachers are amazing and work so hard for these kids.
My daughter has danced here for 4 years and it's been a great experience. She has loved all of her instructors. Right now she is loving the summer camps. I highly recommend for families looking for a dance studio.
Your first barre class at Above The Barre Dance & Gymnastics
New to barre? Almost everyone is their first time, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: barre blends small isometric holds and tiny pulses at a ballet barre with light weights and mat work — it's low-impact and joint-friendly, but it works muscles you didn't know you had, so a little shaking in your legs is the point, not a problem. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: fitted leggings and a top you can move in — nothing baggy, so the instructor can see your form. Grip socks: most barre studios require grip socks — bring a pair or check whether they sell them at the front desk; the grippy soles keep you steady during the pulses. What to bring: water and a small towel. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet your instructor. It clicks fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
