This by far the best Dance studio around, the staff are wonderful with the children and make it so fun for them to learn technique, I'm so glad they came to Marion !!
Above the Barre is an amazing dance studio that includes children of all ages! My daughters have shown substantial growth in not only their dance abilities but also in their self-confidence, social skills, teamwork, and work ethic all because of the dedication and encouragement from the staff and owner of Above the…
ATB is our favorite! This is my daughter's 4th year and my nieces 2nd with them. The staff is incredible! Easton, the gymnastics teacher, is wonderful with my girls. They have learned and grown so much in this sport thanks to her.
This studio has given my daughter so much more than dance. She’s grown in confidence, found lifelong friends, and been loved every step of the way. Above The Barre doesn’t just teach dance. They build strong, kind, confident little humans.
Your first barre class at Above the Barre Dance & Gymnastics Academy
New to barre? Almost everyone is their first time, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: barre blends small isometric holds and tiny pulses at a ballet barre with light weights and mat work — it's low-impact and joint-friendly, but it works muscles you didn't know you had, so a little shaking in your legs is the point, not a problem. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: fitted leggings and a top you can move in — nothing baggy, so the instructor can see your form. Grip socks: most barre studios require grip socks — bring a pair or check whether they sell them at the front desk; the grippy soles keep you steady during the pulses. What to bring: water and a small towel. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet your instructor. It clicks fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
