“We’re so grateful for the staff for encouraging her each class and for allowing us to be a part of the ATB family.”
From the reviews
Both of my girls have learned new skills and improved on all skills since beginning at Above the Barre. The teachers are skilled in this profession and very friendly with making lessons fun with the kids.
Being Finley’s first year of dance and gymnastics we were a little nervous, but she has done so well with Erin! You can tell each instructor truly cares for the kids that they work with. Finley loves it and we plan to stay right where we are!
I started here before covid. I think it's the best dance studio I been too! Mrs. Erin is the best! I love all the teachers and the students here. I love ATB❤️
We enrolled our five-year-old daughter, Ava into dance this past fall. We live in Shelby, but I chose to go with above the bar in Fallston NC because I’ve heard great things from friends, and I wanted Ava‘s first time dance experience to be memorable and enjoyable.
Your first barre class at ABOVE THE BARRE Dance & Gymnastics Academy
New to barre? Almost everyone is their first time, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: barre blends small isometric holds and tiny pulses at a ballet barre with light weights and mat work — it's low-impact and joint-friendly, but it works muscles you didn't know you had, so a little shaking in your legs is the point, not a problem. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: fitted leggings and a top you can move in — nothing baggy, so the instructor can see your form. Grip socks: most barre studios require grip socks — bring a pair or check whether they sell them at the front desk; the grippy soles keep you steady during the pulses. What to bring: water and a small towel. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet your instructor. It clicks fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
