From the reviews
As a mom of two daughters and a former dancer myself, Above the Barre is a dream studio! The instructors are all incredibly talented teachers, easily able to work with all dancers from a wide variety of backgrounds.
I am just starting my 3rd year at Above the Barre and I am still as excited as I was when I started. I just love this studio. I love all the instructors and all the new friends I have made while taking classes there. Each instructor brings their own unique style to the barre class and it is never boring.
Above the Barre Dance and Fitness is the ideal studio for the long term barre veterans who want to be challenged; and is the welcoming environment for barre and fitness newbies. All of the instructors are informative, friendly and encouraging. THE CLEANIEST STUDIO EVER.
Love this dance studio I started taking my daughter as a baby to the Zumbini classes and as soon as she was old enough signed her up for ballet classes. She’s going on her third year in the fall and we’re so excited! Amanda and the dance teachers do such a wonderful job and create a positive environment and community!
Your first barre class at Above the Barre Dance & Fitness
New to barre? Almost everyone is their first time, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: barre blends small isometric holds and tiny pulses at a ballet barre with light weights and mat work — it's low-impact and joint-friendly, but it works muscles you didn't know you had, so a little shaking in your legs is the point, not a problem. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: fitted leggings and a top you can move in — nothing baggy, so the instructor can see your form. Grip socks: most barre studios require grip socks — bring a pair or check whether they sell them at the front desk; the grippy soles keep you steady during the pulses. What to bring: water and a small towel. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet your instructor. It clicks fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
