Rise has created such a welcoming and positive environment for anyone who walks in the doors. I love that there is a variety of classes I can take and each class is a fun and new experience. I always feel encouraged and energized after leaving the studio!
When I visited Rise for the first time I didn't know much about it. I only knew I'd tried a lot of different types of fitness classes and exercising on my own, or in the gym, by myself. I wanted classes where I felt comfortable, I didn't have to travel far, and there was variety of workouts and times available.
I recently completed my 1,000th class at Rise Collective Wellness. I have been a member for over 8 years so this milestone did not happen fast. It is a compilatuon of weekly intentions to work out 3 times or more each week. That’s been my goal for years.
Your first barre class at RISE Collective Wellness
New to barre? Almost everyone is their first time, and a good studio expects beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. What to expect: barre blends small isometric holds and tiny pulses at a ballet barre with light weights and mat work — it's low-impact and joint-friendly, but it works muscles you didn't know you had, so a little shaking in your legs is the point, not a problem. Rest whenever you need to; no one will bat an eye. What to wear: fitted leggings and a top you can move in — nothing baggy, so the instructor can see your form. Grip socks: most barre studios require grip socks — bring a pair or check whether they sell them at the front desk; the grippy soles keep you steady during the pulses. What to bring: water and a small towel. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet your instructor. It clicks fast — most people say their third class feels completely different from their first.
